A resident at OPALZ requested a copy of the signed snag report covering his unit as the Defects Liability Period approached its close. The handover department couldn't produce it. The originals had gone to the contractor. No digital archive, no scanned copy, no audit trail at the developer.
That resident is now the founder of SnagVault.

Frontier vision models now read handwritten documents at near-human accuracy: the published benchmarks show 93.8% on DocVQA (scanned handwritten documents) and a 1.69% character error rate on standard handwriting sets, zero-shot. Most of the thirteen we tested still failed on real Dubai paper. Our extraction pipeline pairs the most efficient passing model with automatic escalation to a heavier one whenever confidence drops. The exact model mix, prompts and thresholds are our pipeline, and we do not publish them.

Section 7 · the moment matters
The technical unlock
Until 2024, vision-LLMs could not reliably read Dubai handwriting on a snag form. They hallucinated unit numbers with 95% confidence. By June 2026, the newest generation of vision models hit 10 out of 10 on real handover documents. That is the unlock. Everything else (atomic quota, audit log, review queue) was useful infrastructure waiting for an accurate engine to plug into.
